Hello and welcome to Roman Tales.

A one man performance that offers a professional, theatrical, fun performance where you will learn historical facts all about the Romans and their lives. How they lived, ate, fought, and even what happened when they went to the toilet. You will laugh and scream all the way through Roman history with me taking you on a journey back in time to life in ancient Rome.

THERE IS ONLY ONE ROMAN TALES teaching history since 2006. The best interactive Roman experience money can buy.

ABOUT ME

My name is Paul Smith (Decimus Gaius). I live near Perth and have a keen interest in history. I am especially interested in the Romans and created Roman Tales in 2006 to offer a fun and interactive way for children and adults to learn about the rich Roman history of the UK and Scotland in particular. I have worked on a number of archaeological projects including excavations and surveys with a number of professionals actually digging up the past as well as acting it out.

For several years in the late 80's I previously worked with children, mainly those with special needs or learning difficulties. I then served as an operational Firefighter and have now retired after nearly 30 years service. I created Roman Tales in 2006 and have been performing since then as a part time occupation. I can now fully focus more on Roman Tales rather than trying to squeeze it in between shifts. Along with my historical knowledge and out going personality, I have developed and honed my entertainment skills with Roman Tales. I pride myself on giving value for money whilst still providing a very professional, entertaining service which helps to re-enforce the learning you have provided in class when teaching the subject.

I will bring your project or exhibition alive and immerse you into a story you will never forget. Together we will laugh, scream and battle our way through Roman history. An unforgettable journey of historical facts and hilarious entertainment.

I love the interaction and fun part of what I do, seeing kids and adults smile is very satisfying. I am a member of Equity, the performers' union, and very much enjoy the performance aspect of my workshops and museum appearances. I have as much fun as my audience.

For those of you who have just stumbled across this site, WELCOME! I will let my feedback tell the story about my performance so feel free to browse the comments in the Customer Feedback section and see what others have said about my workshops.

I look forward to hearing from and meeting you.
